Iguana Island Snorkeling and Beach

You will be taken to Playa El Arenal in Pedasí, where our boat will be waiting to take you to Iguana Island, a wildlife refuge 8 kilometers off the coast. The island is famous for its white sand beach, crystal waters, extensive mangrove forests and coral riffs, which include 12 different types of corals that shelter more than 300 species of fish.

Dolphins are frequently seen here, as well as (harmless) sharks, turtles, and also humpback whales between June and October, when they migrate from cold waters to the warmer temperatures of Panama’s Pacific coast.
Iguana Island is also home to a large breeding colony of frigate birds and as the island’s name indicates, iguanas.

On the island you will explore the different coral reefs and the colorful submarine world, snorkeling together with your guide. Then spend some time relax at the stunning white sand beach, before exploring a hiking trail that crosses the island from west to east to observe the numerous iguanas. At noon, our guide will serve us a fresh picnic-style lunch directly on the beach.
